Lion's Youth of the Year

In February, our school captains participated in a rigorous public speaking competition known as the Lion's Youth of the Year. The competition involved interviews with a panel of judges, two impromptu questions during which our captains had to respond for two minutes and a prepared speech judged by Mayor Greg Williamson. Lana Campbell, Jesse Bradford, Tamar Baggow and Bailey O’Brien demonstrated their Pioneer pride and represented the school incredibly well, speaking about important social issues and the way leaders are made. They engaged their audience with their honesty, emotional intelligence and humour. Although Pioneer didn't place, our captains went out of their comfort zones and delivered speeches they should all be so proud of.
