Enrolments

Pioneer State High School has a strong tradition of providing a high quality and innovative education to students in Years 7 to 12 from across the Mackay district. We welcome your enrolment enquiry.

A copy of our enrolment package can be downloaded using the link below. Alternatively, you can collect a copy of the package from our office or contact us to organise for a copy to be mailed to you.

Prospective students and their parents should ensure that they are familiar with key expectations of our school community, including expectations relating to behaviour, uniform and personal appearance. Relevant policies are outlined in the Student Planner provided to all students. For further information please view and download a copy of these policies (PDF, 5.4 MB).

With the exception of new Year 7 enrolments at the start of the academic year, all other newly enrolling students and a parent or guardian are required to attend an enrolment interview with the Principal or Deputy Principal. Please contact the school on (07) 4955 9222 or by email at admin@pioneershs.eq.edu.au to make an appointment.  An information evening for Year 6 students and their families is held early in Term 3 each year. This information evening is designed to provide students and parents with information about our school culutre, curriculum and support services. Students and parents have the opportunity to tour the school and to speak with staff and current students.

Scholarships are available to outstanding Year 6 students at local state schools intending on enrolling at Pioneer in Year 7 the following year. Academic, cultural and sporting scholarships are available and are sponsored by our Parents and Citizens Association. Applications close at the end of Term 2 each year. Further information and application forms are available on the Scholarships page.

Prospective Year 7 students can also apply to join our exciting new Learning Excellence at Pioneer (LEAP) enrichment program. The LEAP program is an innovative enrichment and extension program offered in partnership with CQUniversity.

The secondary transition for Scholarships and the LEAP program will be available to  Year 7 students in 2016.
