Key achievements

Pioneer State High School is proud of the achievements of our alumni.

From the sporting achievements of Cathy Freeman in the school's early years to the academic success of our students in more recent times, the Pioneer community has much to be proud of.

In 2011, two of our students received an OP of 1 and early in 2012 one of these students, Scott Schwabe, was awarded a prestigious Australian Student Prize. Scott is currently studying dentistry at James Cook University.

In 2012, Year 12 student Lachlan Brand was named the Regional School-Based Apprentice of the Year and then went on to win the prestigious Queensland School-Based Apprentice of the Year at the Queensland Training Awards. Fellow Year 12 student Jacob Davies was selected through the Creative Generations competition and has been displayed in the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane.

Our seniors of 2012 performed very well academically, with 17% of OP-eligible students achieving OPs in the top 1-5 band. Some of these students are undertaking tertiary studies in physiotherapy, pharmacy, veterinary science, engineering and education.

2013 School Captain, Cassandra Palmer-Field was one of only two students Australia-wide to participate in a coveted internship with the world-renowned Bell Shakespeare Company.

Reunions

Each year, former Pioneer students celebrate significant milestones such as their 10 and 20 year reunions. The school is happy to assist in making arrangements for these events. If you are planning a reunion or would like information about an upcoming celebration, please contact principal@pioneer.eq.edu.au. In 2011, Pioneer State High School celebrated 25 years since the school's official opening in 1986. A range of souvenirs and mementos are still available for purchase form our P&C Association. Please contact us for further information.
