Pioneer is committed to providing high quality, flexible and innovative learning pathways for students in their senior years of secondary education. Building on the strong education foundations from the middle years, students are encouraged to move into a more specialised course of study that is responsive to students' academic interests and career goals.
Year 10 is a critical time for students to make informed decisions about their career plans and their subject selections for Years 11 and 12. All Year 11 students are assisted in developing a individualised Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan. Bridging units in Year 10 help to expose students to senior subject offerings and inform their selection of subjects for Years 11 and 12.
In selecting subjects and other learning experiences as part of their studies in Years 11 and 12, students are encouraged to move into one of two educational pathways:
a vocational pathway that includes undertaking a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship or nationally-recognised vocational certificate courses.
An academic pathway aimed at attaining an ATAR ranking for university entrance.
